1910’s Emblem

This bike is a true survivor. Built in the teens by the Emblem Manufacturing Company, this bike is typical of many bicycles back in those days, done in an interesting color combination with plenty of pinstripes and bright nickel plated parts (well they used to be bright!). The tires are 28″ x 1 1/2″ single tube design, which often required repairs. As a result, finding original tires that still hold air is very difficult. The rims are made of one piece wood that is finger-joined together, then painted and pinstriped. Check out that seat, and those grips with swastika’s on them! Those swastikas used to stand for good luck back in those days. Photos courtesy of Paul Genaro www.antiquebikeparts.com.
